Most people think that corals are a form of plant and are a little shocked to discover they are in fact animals that reproduce through the creation of eggs and sperm. Scientists are developing ways of seeding coral by fertilizing eggs in the lab and then sowing them onto existing reefs. This is a means of replenishing reefs that are suffering from the effects of pollution and climate change. Here I create an imaginary coral cell ready to be attached to a reef substrate.
