Cut Pod is a huge fertility fetish, bursting with new life. Again this piece took months of careful work to produce, each layer hand drawn in complete detail before cutting with a scalpel knife. I can use hundreds of blades on one sculpture. The repetitive act of cutting is both a physical and spiritual discipline, an act of "kenosis" or emptying out of the self. I enjoy serving the work in this way and focusing my life to this end. The finished work is a relic of all the time that went into its making.
